The Peterborough Arts Umbrella is pleased to announce the first annual Art in the Park event, to be held on Saturday, October 18th, 2008 from 10am to 4pm in Millennium Park.

Art in the Park is a one-day juried art fair featuring local and area artists and artisans. Artwork will be exhibited throughout the park in the picturesque setting along the Otonabee River, and will be available to purchase. Admission for visitors to the event is free, and all are welcome to enjoy the diverse and vibrant art community of Peterborough and surrounding areas.

35 local and area artists have been selected to display and sell their work. Artists included are Carol Rutherford (acrylic landscape paintings), Jim Allen (woodcarving and sculptures), Heidi Denhartog (mixed media assemblages and jewelry), Christa Maxwell (acrylic paintings and charcoal drawings), April Steele (abstract acrylic paintings and printmaking), Nan Sidler (watercolour and graphite), Victoria Wallace (encaustic and acrylic paintings), Cheryl Ellis (sculpture and mixed media painting), Sally Yardley (abstract and semi-abstract landscape paintings), Jean James (oil and alkyd paintings), David Parson (pastel and oil paintings), Dan English (photography), Beth McCubbin (mixed media, clay and metalwork), Patrick Walsh (photography), Steven Kenzora (woodcarving and sculpture), Jennifer Jackson (acrylic portraits), MaryLou Green (abstract acrylic painting), Teri McDonald (oil painting), Judith Hyland (photography and watercolour), Maija Ksander (pen and ink drawings), Mark L. Carighead (photography), Grant Heighway (stone sculpture), Jeff Macklin (letterpress, woodblock and linoleum printing), Lucy Perna (photography), Mark Kellett (abstract painting and printmaking), Anastasia Tiller (watercolour, oil and mixed media paintings), David Hickey (metalwork sculpture), David Hynes (collage, assemblage, mixed media and found object artwork), Sheila Magee (nature photography), Stephen Ray (oil paintings), John Parson (oil painting), Angela McCumber (stone carvings and oil paintings), Julia Cameron (oil paintings and graphite drawings), Heather Lavigne (acrylic paintings) and Andrew Harbridge (acrylic paintings).

Please note that in the case of inclement weather, Art in the Park will be held at the Market Hall Performing Arts Center (336 George Street).
