Gallery Mission
Gallery Mission To provide exhibition space, for artists primarily from Peterborough and surrounding regions, which will strive to represent the diversity that exists within those communities, including a commitment to presenting the works of Aboriginal artists. - To encourage, support and assist in the development of local art and artists, as well as broadening awareness of modern artistic styles and movements through the occasional presentation of innovative, non-regional artists.
- To expose the community to and increase audience awareness of art and artists, while providing a venue for interaction between the public and the arts community through innovative, equitable, accessible gallery exhibitions and programming.
- To provide a fair, constructive and informative selection process for curated shows, while also maintaining open-access exhibitions for the entire membership.
- To provide educational programming in the form of artists and curator talks, student tours, high school art projects and shows and public symposia.
The PAU's Gallery is in the unique position of being able to display curated and non-curated exhibits. The PAU Gallery provides a highly visible focus for public outreach, and ensures that visual artists are seen by the larger community.
The PAU's Gallery promotes and develops artists working at diverse stages in their careers and is open to all artists, at all levels of development.
The PAU has an exhibiting artists agreement and charges a 15% commission on Gallery sales. Calls for Proposals for curated exhibitions are disseminated through the PAU and are juried by the Visual Arts Workgroup.
This new 900 square foot Gallery is an indication of PAU's continuing dedication to our visual arts community.
