Take poetry public with a weekend of workshops and performances; all free and open to the public. Trent University is pleased to host Doing It In Public, a conference in performance, poetry, and publics, from Friday, February 29th to Saturday, March 1st 2008. In an innovative fusion of performance art, media, and literature, this event will provide the opportunity for a unique experience in Peterborough. Artists from both Canada and the United States - including Christian Bök, Alexis O'Hara, MOTION, Angela Rawlings, Jill Battson, and Derek Beaulieu - will lead workshops, speak on panels, and perform.
Doing It In Public is supported by Trent University, The Canada Council for the Arts, and The League of Canadian Poets, in the interest of making performance and poetry accessible to the public. Attendance, participation, and interest are encouraged.
