Peterborough New Dance Presents "In Paradisum"
Peterborough New Dance presents a unique performance and talk with Coleman Lemieux & Co. featuring James Kudelka's classic 1983 work In Paradisum. This is an announcement for a surprise visit taking place next Monday from Coleman Lemieux & Co. (Remember the all-Kudelka program we brought to Peterborough two years ago?) More at www.colemanlemieux.com.
This is a rare opportunity for students and the public to experience one of Canada's great works of dance in an informal setting, accompanied by an introduction and discussion with the co-artistic director and dancers of Coleman Lemieux & Co. The 30-minute In Paradisum will be performed at Market Hall in its entirety (without full theatrical lighting) by the same company of dancers who have been touring the work across Canada and the U.S. for the past 5 months. Prior to the performance co-artistic director Laurence Lemieux will talk about the themes of the work and how it came to be created. Following the performance, the company will engage in a question and answer session.
Since James Kudelka retired as Artistic Director of the National Ballet of Canada, he has entrusted the remounting of his signature modern works to Coleman Lemieux & Co. In Paradisum is the latest, originally created in 1986 for Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, with a score by Michael J. Baker.
At Market Hall, 336 George St. N. Tickets: $5. Call 745-1788 to reserve for student groups or individuals or email: bill@publicenergy.ca.
